Penne, fusilli, farfalle, and other loose pasta can be automatically portioned and packaged using a vertical form-fill-seal machine. A reliable production process depends on more than just the packaging machine. Weighing technology, product feeding, and packaging film also influence filling accuracy, packaging quality, and throughput.
alpha-pack GmbH develops complete packaging lines for the automated processing of free-flowing food products. From precise portioning to forming, filling, and sealing the tubular pouches, all the way to inspecting the finished product, the necessary technology can be integrated into a seamless packaging line.
Under the umbrella of the “Home of Packaging,” alpha-pack GmbH and tbs-pack GmbH combine their manufacturing expertise. This means that, in addition to the machinery, you also receive the appropriate OPP/CPP films directly from the manufacturer.
In a vertical form-fill-seal machine from alpha-pack GmbH, the packaging film is fed directly from the roll. The machine forms the tubular pouch from the film, fills it with the pre-portioned amount of pasta, and seals the package using a reliable longitudinal and transverse seal.
The vertical product flow is particularly well-suited for free-falling and free-flowing foods such as short pasta. Pouch width, pouch length, and fill quantity can be configured according to the desired package size. Transparent films are available, as are custom-printed packages for high-quality presentation on store shelves. Product programs can be stored for different pasta varieties and package sizes. This allows, for example, different formats and target weights to be processed efficiently. It is also possible to integrate the form-fill-seal machine into existing production lines.
Depending on the production process, the packaging line can additionally be equipped with a printing system, a label applicator, a metal detector, or a checkweigher. Our machine experts configure the necessary technology based on the product, the desired package size, and the required production capacity.
Before the pasta enters the tubular pouch, the desired quantity must be portioned as precisely as possible. For loose short pasta, for example, a multihead weigher can be used. It enables fast and accurate portioning and is particularly well-suited for higher production rates and varying target weights.
Depending on the pasta shape, portion size, susceptibility to breakage, and desired throughput, a linear scale may be a suitable alternative. Our experts determine which weighing technology is appropriate based on the product characteristics and the intended production process.
Product feeding and drop height also play an important role, especially with more delicate pasta shapes. The individual components can be designed so that penne, fusilli, farfalle, and other pasta varieties are transported, weighed, and fed into the tubular bag filling machine as gently as possible.
You can find additional options in our weighing and filling systems from alpha-pack GmbH.
To ensure reliable machine operation, the packaging film must also meet the technical requirements of the process. Under the umbrella of the Home of Packaging, tbs-pack GmbH therefore complements the machine technology from alpha-pack GmbH with the corresponding Castelli® packaging films.
Our OPP/CPP films are food-safe and heat-sealable and can be produced either transparent or with custom printing. Film thickness, roll width, sealing properties, printing, and product protection are designed for processing on vertical form-fill-seal machines. Recycling-oriented packaging concepts can also be evaluated. Depending on the technical requirements, a PP-based film structure may be an option. In such cases, product protection, stable seal seams, and reliable machine processing must still be guaranteed.
Another advantage of our manufacturing expertise is the ability to test the machine, the original product, and the packaging film prior to their eventual use. This allows important factors such as dosing, product flow, film run, and sealing behavior to be evaluated under realistic conditions.
Would you like to automatically portion penne, fusilli, farfalle, or other free-flowing foods and package them in tubular pouches? At alpha-pack, you don’t just get a single packaging machine—you also get, upon request, the necessary technology for the entire packaging process.
Our experts will advise you on vertical tubular pouch machines, weighing technology, product feeding, and complementary inspection technology. Through tbs-pack, you’ll also receive the appropriate Castelli® packaging film directly from the manufacturer.
This means you get machine technology and packaging materials from a single source and can have your packaging solution tested with your actual product and the intended film even before it goes into use.
